His wealth of experience, modern football philosophy, and proven track record at international level make him the ideal candidate to lead the Warriors into a new era. This has sparked debate over whether Zimbabwe lacks qualified local coaches capable of leading the national team.
‎
‎Zimbabwe, in fact, boasts several seasoned tacticians who have excelled both in the domestic league and on the continental stage.
‎
‎Many fans and analysts argue that offering local coaches an opportunity to lead the Warriors could help nurture homegrown talent, strengthen national football structures, and promote a style of play that truly reflects Zimbabwe’s football identity.
‎
‎Fan Bhekithemba Tshuma shared his thoughts on the matter, saying:
‎
‎ “We appreciate what ZIFA is trying to do by bringing in experienced foreign coaches, but we also have capable local coaches who deserve a chance. Giving them the opportunity would help us build confidence in our own football systems and inspire upcoming Zimbabwean coaches to aim higher.”

While Marinica’s appointment brings hope for a new era of success for the Warriors, it also highlights the importance of the role of local coaches in Zimbabwean football.

Striking a balance between leveraging international expertise and empowering homegrown talent may be the key to building a sustainable and competitive national team for the future.

Stay Connected with Zim GBC News:
‎· X (Twitter): @ZimGbc
‎· Instagram: @ZimGBCNews
‎· TikTok: @ZimGBCNews_01
‎· Facebook: Zim GBC News
‎· YouTube: Zim GBC News
‎
‎Get real-time alerts on WhatsApp:
‎ +263 773 820 323
‎
‎For in-depth coverage, visit our website: www.zimgbcnews.co.zw
‎
‎Zim GBC News | Global News From An African Perspective©2025

Sithembinkosi L.
