Bulawayo \u2013 A two-month-old baby has died in a suspected case of fatal poisoning after his mother allegedly breastfed him following the use of the illicit drug crystal meth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The infant, Sibusiso Dube, was found unresponsive by his 22-year-old mother on the morning of November 4, 2025. According to police reports, the incident occurred after the mother consumed the drug with a friend the previous night around 9 PM, breastfed her child, and then both fell asleep.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Police are investigating the case as a sudden death, and the baby’s body has been taken to the United Bulawayo Hospitals for a post-mortem examination to determine the exact cause of death.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In a stern statement, Assistant Inspector Thandekile Ndlovu, the deputy police spokesperson for Bulawayo, highlighted the grave dangers of substance abuse.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWe advise that drug use can impair judgment and lead to dangerous behaviors, negligence, or crimes,\u201d Assistant Inspector Ndlovu stated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThis is a heartbreaking example of the consequences. We also have a strong message for those involved in drug dealing and use: law enforcement will take decisive action against you.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The tragedy has sent shockwaves through the community and serves as a grim reminder of the far-reaching impact of the drug epidemic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
