Harare Gardens has reopened to the public after a fatal bee attack on Sunday evening claimed one life, prompting the City of Harare to temporarily close the popular park.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In a statement, the City Health Department\u2019s Environmental Health \u2013 Pest Control Section confirmed that a swarm of bees had taken shelter in a tree stump within the park, leading to the tragic incident.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cUnfortunately, one person was attacked and fatally injured before the City\u2019s emergency response team was alerted and intervened,\u201d the department stated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Following the emergency, pest control specialists from Beatrice Infectious Diseases Hospital were dispatched to the scene. The City confirmed that \u201cthe bees were safely and professionally removed and that all affected areas had been inspected and declared safe.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The municipality has since assured residents that the park is now secure for public use.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cHarare Gardens is now safe and open to the public. Normal activities may continue as usual,\u201d the City said in its statement. It described the bee swarm as a transient group and emphasized that the City \u201cdoes not maintain bee colonies in its parks,\u201d classifying the event as an isolated occurrence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The City of Harare extended its condolences to the family of the deceased, whose identity has not been disclosed, and reaffirmed its commitment to monitoring public spaces to prevent similar incidents. Residents are encouraged to remain vigilant while using the park.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
