Political tensions have escalated dramatically after former ZANU-PF official Temba Mliswa accused activist Blessed Geza of treason for calling nationwide street protests, exposing deepening factional divisions within the ruling party.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The confrontation emerged following Geza’s fiery video address on Saturday, where he urged Zimbabweans to “flood the streets of Harare” on October 17 to protest what he termed presidential overreach and corruption. The call appears to align with Vice President Constantino Chiwenga’s faction, positioning against President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s camp.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In a series of posts on X, Mliswa condemned the planned demonstration as a “downright treasonous enterprise” that endangered ordinary citizens.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“This recklessness could lead to treason charges for anyone who organises or mobilises for such unlawful endeavours,” Mliswa warned, emphasizing that Geza had not obtained required police clearance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The former lawmaker drew sharp distinctions between the planned protest and the 2017 military-assisted transition that removed former President Robert Mugabe, noting the earlier movement had “Parliamentary endorsement” while describing Geza’s initiative as a “hotel crafted initiative” lacking legitimacy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Mliswa’s criticism turned personal as he questioned Geza’s motives and safety.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“Here is Sekuru Geza with clear evidence of being bought putting others in danger by pushing for a dangerous and illegal demonstration while himself and his handlers remain safe and hiding!” he asserted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The public feud represents the most volatile manifestation of internal ZANU-PF conflicts to date, with analysts warning that the exchange signals a dangerous departure from traditional party decorum and could potentially lead to violent confrontations between security forces and demonstrators.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
