GWERU \u2013 In a dramatic reversal, Sheasham Football Club has confirmed its return to the ZIFA Central Region Soccer League (CRSL), just days after announcing a shock withdrawal over allegations of an unfair playing field.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The decision, announced by the club in a statement on Friday, comes after “constructive engagements” with football stakeholders, including the national football association, ZIFA.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“Sheasham F.C. and Sheasham Gweru Queens are pleased to confirm the resumption of our participation in the ZIFA Central Region Soccer League and the Zimbabwe Women\u2019s Premier Soccer League, respectively,” the club stated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The move follows ZIFA’s swift intervention, which included the announcement of an Ad-Hoc Committee to investigate the circumstances that led to Sheasham’s initial withdrawal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“We are encouraged by the tangible steps being taken to address the issues raised and remain committed to contributing positively to the growth of the game,” the club’s statement continued.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Sheasham, popularly known as the Construction Boys, had protested what they termed favourable treatment of their main promotion rivals, Hard Rock. The club had accused the Kwekwe-based side of using a fraudulently registered player with a double identity, a matter that is now set for a disciplinary hearing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
With the off-pitch dispute temporarily settled, focus now returns to the title race. Sheasham currently trails Hard Rock by a single point with six matches remaining.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Their immediate challenge is a home fixture against Dulibadzimu at Bata Stadium, where they will need to quickly refocus their efforts on the pitch.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
