HARARE \u2013 The Minister of Primary and Secondary Education, Honourable Torerayi Moyo, has announced that the government has secured funds to pay all teachers involved in marking Zimbabwe School Examinations Council (ZIMSEC) examinations, seeking to allay concerns during the critical assessment period.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Minister made the announcement via his official X account on October 10, 2025, stating that the move underscores the government’s commitment to both the integrity of the national examination system and the welfare of educators.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI am pleased to announce that the Government of Zimbabwe has successfully secured the necessary funds to pay all teachers involved in the marking of public examinations administered by ZIMSEC,\u201d the Minister stated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He provided further details on the payment mechanism, revealing that the Treasury has been supporting the process through scheduled disbursements.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cOver the past few weeks, Treasury has beenThe disbursing funds to ZIMSEC on a fortnightly basis, allowing us to meet our financial obligations to exam markers across the country,\u201d Minister Moyo was quoted as saying in a recent parliamentary session.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWe have a budget in place to cater for all the markers. I am happy to inform the nation that we have the funds to pay them.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In his online statement, the Minister also praised educators for their dedication, framing the payment as a fundamental investment in the nation’s future.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI also wish to commend our teachers for their professionalism and dedication\u2026 By ensuring timely and fair remuneration, we are not only honoring their service but also reinforcing the value of education in Zimbabwe\u2019s development agenda,\u201d he wrote.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The announcement, however, was met with a mixed reaction from the public on social media. While some acknowledged the positive step, others questioned why fulfilling a standard obligation was being presented as an extraordinary achievement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The assurance comes as the nation navigates the Grade Seven, O-Level, and A-Level examination period, with the government aiming to ensure the smooth and uninterrupted running of the national marking process.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
