GABORONE \u2013 In a strategic move to attract foreign capital and stimulate population growth, Botswana has announced it will launch a formal citizenship-by-investment programme starting in 2026.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to the new policy, individuals can obtain Botswana citizenship by making an investment ranging between US$75,000 and US$90,000.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The initiative is designed to boost the nation’s financial inflows and strengthen its economic standing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This new programme expands upon Botswana’s existing Investment Visa framework, which already allows investors to secure a five-year stay for business purposes through the country’s immigration offices and diplomatic missions abroad.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Analysts see the move as a deliberate effort by the southern African nation to position itself as a more competitive hub for international investment, joining a growing number of countries offering similar pathways to citizenship.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The government anticipates that the programme will not only provide a direct economic boost but also encourage long-term business development and demographic diversification.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
